About Me.

  • Who I am.

I came to counselling almost 10 years ago after a difficult transition in my life, during which time I felt it was time for a change.

I work in an integrative way as a counsellor which means I draw upon different theoretical approaches. My work is significantly influenced by the person-centred (humanistic) approach to counselling where the belief is that all human beings have the ability to fulfil their full potential provided the right conditions are present. However, I also draw significant inspiration from CBT, Solution-Focused and the Psychodynamic approaches to counselling.

I am registered with BACP and NCS. I set up my own small private practice and I currently volunteer for a long-standing charity run by women for women.

In the past I also volunteered at a well-known mental health charity in Richmond for 1 year and at a high school in Croydon, seeing clients aged 11-18, for 2 years.

  • What Counselling is.

Counselling can provide an opportunity to explore the difficulties you are going through; it can allow time for self-reflection. Talking about your problems can also help lessen feelings of hopelessness and isolation, it can be helpful during times of depression, anxiety, uncertainty, and change.

My role is not to advise or tell you what to do, but facilitate your growth, development and enable self-discovery. We will then start to build copying mechanisms and resilience to help you move forward.

Counselling can be hard work and emotionally challenging, but also rewarding and even enjoyable.

Confidentiality is at the base of a good/trusting relationship, and it will be maintained at all times, expect in exceptional circumstances.
